For six consecutive years, Transwestern has been recognized by the EPA as an ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year (2004, 2005) and as a Sustained Excellence Award Winner (2006 - 2010) for our outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through leadership in energy management. We proactively embraced the ENERGY STAR® benchmarking program in 2002 as an additional way to reduce property operating costs and to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Since 2002, our energy management practices—including low-to no-cost operational adjustments, strategic capital improvements and energy procurement—have consistently reduced operating costs by 20% to 30%. Increased energy efficiency across our managed portfolio is largely attributed to streamlined benchmarking and energy performance improvements. Our integrated approach allows us to quickly evaluate the performance of new buildings and, despite the shortened ownership windows of today’s investors, enables continuous improvements in the energy performance of the properties we manage regardless of the age or class of the building.
