FIRST FOUR LEASES FOR NEW FITNESS CONCEPT

(October 17, 2011 – CHICAGO) Transwestern’s Chicago Retail Advisory Services team recently represented Zip Fitness in four transactions across the Chicagoland area. Zip Fitness is a new fitness concept which offers a high-quality, low-cost exercise experience in an environment designed to be comfortable for casual fitness users. Patrick Owens, senior vice president of Transwestern’s Retail Advisory Services Group, represented Zip Fitness in its first four lease transactions in the following locations:

• 16,172 square foot location in the Grandview Court Shopping Center, 730 North Green Bay Road in Waukegan, IL, which opened in December 2010.
• 17,700 square foot fitness center at the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Foster Avenue, 7300 West Foster Avenue in Chicago, which opened at the end of August 2011.
• 20,000 square foot gym in the Marycrest Shopping Center, 1234B West Jefferson Street in Joliet, IL, which is set to open in October 2011.
• 15,292 square foot location in the Market Square Shopping Center, Southeast corner of Briarcliff & Route 53 in Bolingbrook, IL, which will also open later this year.

“Zip Fitness was created to capitalize on a societal shift towards better health and wellness as well as a consumer shift towards value. We worked with Zip Fitness to find convenient, visible real estate locations in markets that weren’t adequately being served by existing fitness centers. We are currently evaluating sites throughout the market in anticipation of opening additional Zip Fitness locations in 2012,” says Owens.

Owens represented Zip Fitness in all four of the lease transactions. Liz Krebs of Mid-America represented the landlord in the Waukegan transaction. McLaughlin negotiated in-house on behalf of the landlord in the Chicago transaction. Joanne Sutryk and Mike Wesley of Edgemark represented the landlord in the Joliet transaction. Jaime Platt of Mid-America represented the landlord in the Bolingbrook lease.
