(January 4, 2012 – FORT WORTH) – Transwestern’s Fort Worth office announces its retail team leased 6,080 SF to The Londoner at the Vue, 3201 S. University, Fort Worth. The Vue is a 68-unit boutique student housing development with ground floor retail and restaurant space.
The Londoner restaurant and pub will occupy the entire retail space below the student housing. The site will represent their first location in Fort Worth, with four existing spaces in Addison, Allen, Frisco and Uptown Dallas. They offer British and American cuisine, dozens of imported and domestic beers, a full bar and seasonal cocktails. The cozy pub environment will house dart boards, pool tables and plenty of HD TVs for patrons to view a game and a late-night snack.
“As TCU alumni ourselves, we are excited about the unique living experience The Vue will provide to current and future students, and for The Londoner to join Fort Worth’s restaurant and pub scene,” said John Jinks, an associate with Transwestern.
The Vue is currently leasing suites for the 2012 fall semester and The Londoner is slated open summer 2012. Jennifer Purselley, Grant Huff and John Jinks of Transwestern represented the landlord, Fountain Residential Partners, LLC, and Charlotte Tate represented The Londoner in-house.
About The Londoner
Originally selling fruit and vegetables in a London street market in Soho for fifteen years the owner, Barry Tate, finally got tired of the wind, rain, and cold (typical English summer) and decided to turn a derelict railway station in London into a French Creperie and wine bar. After four years he still could not pronounce the items and wines on his own menu, so he sold the business and came to Dallas (you lucky people.)
Once in Dallas, he bought into a sign business, but being sixty feet in the air, inside a McDonald’s sign scared the McCrap out of him. So he returned to the restaurant business, again opening a French Creperie (will he ever learn?) on lower Greenville Avenue. Six months and about ten customers later he closed the business and reopened as the London Tavern (1990) eventually spawning the Londoner in Addison (1995), McKinney (2002), Uptown Dallas (2008), and Frisco (2010).
How successful he will be remains to be seen, But as he sees it, at least he can pronounce the items on the bloody menu now.
